Beautiful, well made table, contemporary style
I purchased this table with lots of hesitation, since I couldn't find ONE review of it not only on Amazon, but all over the web. I figured I should write one, so others know more than I did. It came within a week (with Prime), shipped with FedEx (not your regular offenders - the freight shippers, who manage to beat your packages into a pulp:), in two boxes. It was very well packaged, so there is no damage on any surface. I put it together myself in about 30 minutes. Instructions are clear, all the hardware is there, with spares even, and holes and all align. It comes with a little wrench, which actually worked very well, and I kept it for future use, and the only other thing you'll need is a Phillips screwdriver.
The finish on the table is beautiful and matches the picture pretty well. It's all hardwood, the parts that are seen at least. The mechanism for putting the leaf in is a bit stiff, but cleverly engineered. It's very stable (a concern of mine for pedestal tables). The...

very satisfied
This was the 'riskiest' purchases I've made online in that this item had only ONE other reviewer. However, the table's general appearance (bold/solid) and the one reviewer's seeming satisfaction lead me to get it. I was looking for an old farmhouse style table, but most which had the style either were poorly rated and looked frail or cost way more than I was willing to pay.

Mind you, $300 ain't cheap, but in general terms and for a heavily used and essential part of the home, I was willing to pay up to that level for a good table.

This table is certainly solid. Legs are solid wood. I think the whole thing is solid 'real' wood except for the top surface. The top surface is perfectly smooth (no grain) which leads me to believe it's the one 'selected veneers' mentioned in the product description. But it 'feels' like wood... ;)

Beautiful Table!
This table is great. It was not difficult to assemble, all the parts were present, and the directions were easy to follow. The hardest part was unpacking it! It has a beautiful finish and is very solid. The extra leaf is easy to install and makes the table perfect for a large group. It is exactly what I needed for my family room.
Nice Table
Son put it together for me without any problems. Table is very sturdy and doesn't waver at all. The large table top was a real plus when wrapping Christmas presents. Would recommend to anyone looking for a heavy table.

Lovely table, easy to assemble...
I had only heard good things about the Carolina Cottage line of affordable tables and chairs. When I checked the price and saw the poor reviews, I was surprised but I decided to go ahead and purchase the table last night. With Prime shipping, it arrived and was on my doorstep before I returned from appointments this afternoon. Fortunately, it wasn't as heavy as I expected and easily slid through my front door. The top and bottom arrived packaged individually but in the same shipping carton. Before I began assembling it, I checked over each piece and counted the nuts, bolts, washers, screws, levelers and tools. Everything was accounted for and in perfect condition. The table took less than 45 minutes to assemble which as a 56-year-old woman with some physical difficulties is quite an accomplishment! I already had one friend stop in and he couldn't believe what I paid for it. I will definitely continue to purchase items from Amazon as well as from Carolina Cottage.

Sturdy, stylish and easy to assemble. Love this table!
I was wary of purchasing a table like this online because I had read so many horror stories of people who had purchased similar tables from Target and Walmart (cracked wood, missing pieces). But the reviews here convinced me to try and I am very happy I did.

Like another woman here said to do, I checked that I had all the pieces needed (they were there, as well as the tools needed) before I began putting it together. It did take a little thought because the directions are limited to drawings: (the tiny 'spring washers' don't get put on until step two, otherwise use the large washers) (also when inserting the wooden slats that hold the table portions upright, insert so that the hole is facing you and is reachable -- it's a finger hole).

But I was able to put the whole table together with little effort and quickly (I'm female, 47 years old and mildly handy). Mostly I'm impressed at how sturdy it is. And there are adjustable foot screws so you can make it level...

Item shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition. Assembly was very easy. The item looks more expensive than it cost. Great value for the money. I can't find anything wrong with it and it is the perfect size for my small eat-in. I can keep the sides down or up. Either way, it looks great.

Perfect - simple and sturdy
I bought this for a computer desk in my office. It is simple in design, and sturdy of build. The quality is very good. The finish is a flat black which will show some marks, but glossy would too. I'm quite satisfied.

Overall a pretty good value.
Overall we like the table. It arrived on time and was easy to assemble. Generally it looks good and it appears to be sturdy.

My only reservation is the table top. It's constructed by gluing together short strips of "scrap" wood, instead of a series of long boards that run the length of the table. Even though the table is darkly stained (essentially black), you can see these glued up strips when the light shines on the table just so. Sadly this reveals the somewhat low-cost quality of the product.

Otherwise, it's fine. I'm sure we'll get years of good use from it.

Practically perfect in every way
I love this table - it's exactly the right size I needed, looks terrific, well-made, etc. Price was right and shipping a breeze. The only disappointment I have had so far is that I've already gotten a couple of scratches on the table top. That may have been because of a friend leaving stuff on the table top - but I would have liked a dining table to be a little more durable than that.

beautiful table, incredible price
The table arrived the DAY AFTER I ORDERED IT, which amazed me. It was in perfect condition. It's very solid, strong, easy to put together, and ideal for a desk as well as for a dining table. I'm using it as a desk. The finish is soft and pleasant to work on. I can't believe it's possible to get something so nice for such a reasonable price. Many thanks.

Nice quality but where are the turned legs?
I ordered a table with turned legs. What I received was 1) not even remotely what was pictured on amazon and 2) cannot be described as turned legs by any definition.

Truly disappointing and if it weren't such a pain in my a** to do so, this table would be returned immediately for a refund.

The two stars are for sturdiness, quality of table, and ease of assembly. Still, this table is not want I wanted and does not go with my decor so much.

I ordered this table, and was very impressed it. The item came well package for with no room for damage.(5 stars) I have a friend set it up, took about an hour. It is very heavy, and well made! It came with a leaf, which I inserted for extra length. Let me tell you, this take is worth every penny. If you want a beautiful take aim at this one, you will not be disappointed. When this table arrived, there was some damage visible on the underside of the tabletop. After putting the table together we saw there was a crack along one whole side of the top - bad enough that you could actually move it up and down. I had a glass top from a previous table, so we put that on top but I was very concerned about the stability of the tabletop. Knowing that I couldn't box up the damnaged top and ship it back, I send an email detaling the damage, but didn't expect any action on my complaint. To my great surprise, I received a reply quickly and was given a number to call to get another tabletop delivered to me at no cost. What a wonderful service. I have received the second tabletop and now can use my table without fear of part of it falling apart. Great service and really nice table!

We purchased the Home Styles Wood Dining Table and 2 sets of side chairs. I was a little nervous making such a purchase online, but I knew these looked like the style I wanted and I was unable to find anything like them locally. I'm so glad I made the purchase. They are all so nice. They are solid, sturdy pieces. I love the contrast between the black and oak. The table and chairs really look like high end pieces. It took my husband about an hour to put together the table and four chairs. Definately worth the price. Love this item!
